After pondering I’ve figured out why the bulk of this episode annoyed me so much. On the surface yes, this episode rehashed a bunch of info we got last week. But the tragedy of the situation is the rehash of details comes from Pride herself.
What could’ve saved this episode is if, instead of Pride taking control of the conversation after the king disinherits the younger bros, it’s Leon. I get it, he’s emotional and doesn’t want to watch his brothers get banished. BUT I feel like the tears at the end would’ve been so much more powerful if, instead of Pride threatening the bros become enemies of Freesia, the threat is from Leon, saying if the bros ever threaten Freesia to get revenge on Pride exposing them, they will become enemies of Anemone.
And then you could add an extra threat from Pride she maybe whispers in their ears. About how despite their banishment they’re being given a second chance. And that if they waste it, like they did with their father’s last warning, she will be there to punish them.
I get you can’t do this without making substantial changes to the source material but honestly why not? What was gained from everything past the point the king had his sons arrested to when the boys were finally escorted out of the room? Pride giving the ultimate friendzoning speech?
