Honestly Toshio's apartment looks about what I would expect from a guy like him. Right down to it being a cheap, run-down apartment that has pipes that break and pour water on him.
Kamiya may have given up on outdoing Cat's Eye in thievery, even assisting them in info on more of their fathers' paintings, but he hasn't given up on flirting with Hitomi no matter how many times she shuts him down.
Oh yeah, it totally makes sense for Toshio to want to stay with his girlfriend of several years after his apartment gets flooded and so he doesn't end up homeless. It's not like he'd be staying at the place of the gang of art thieves he's determined to arrest and where they have all their thief gear and do all their heist planning. This sounds like a great idea.
And obviously Asatani, being as suspicious as she is, immediately questions why Hitomi would be so resistant to Toshio staying over. I feel like she partially suggested she'd take in Toshio just to see how Hitomi would react...and she has to draw the line at Toshio staying with another woman, so they're taking him in no matter the consequences.
It's kind of hilarious how they're putting him up in the room where they had all their tech and stolen paintings holed up. Though fittingly it's also the room next to Hitomi's, and it also has a connecting door...so Toshio can walk in on Hitomi in her bra. And a blue bra at that, Hitomi's gotta stay consistent. Also I love how she was upset he walked in on her and also at the suggestion that he had no interest in walking in on her.
Was Asatani standing outside the building to investigate her suspicions of the Kisugi Sisters? Or was she there for more personal reasons? Kamiya seems to think so.
Though despite the lucky pervert moment and Toshio getting clawed on (and tended to) by Hitomi, the morning after is actually really nice! Hitomi sweetly waking him up, breakfast with the Kisugi Sisters, Ai teasing them about the newlywed couple vibe, and Hitomi genuinely seems really happy about the situation!
And having Toshio there has added benefits for their thief job as well, since he accidentally drops pertinent information for security and they can record his voice to fake it...though now Hitomi really feels bad for using Toshio like this when they've living together.
I love how Hitomi's pillows have cat ears. Though Toshio accidentally stumbles into her diary where she reveals her happiness at him being there...and how Rui was worried about his presence complicating their job. But what "job?" And also, should Toshio have questions about how Hitomi can so easily judo throw him like a certain cat burglar in this life? Though Hitomi herself just feels like she should be the one apologizing.
Cat's Eye successfully pulls off the heist and the only way it could have leaked would be if someone in the Kisugi Household had saw the note...and Asatani obviously recognizes that, whether Toshio likes it or not. And he really does not want to suspect Hitomi.
I guess if Kamiya is good for anything it's covering for the sisters by stashing the note in Asatani's diary...and boy does Asatani REALLY not want anyone (especially Toshio) looking through her diary.
Hitomi was all resolved to let Toshio stay there, and was looking at all the silver linings, but then it turns out he's found a new apartment! And she's ticked at him again! Toshio just can't win with this girl!
