I really liked the scenes of previous interactions between Hinako and Shiori where this time we finally get Shiori’s perspective, felt inevitable after already having Hinako’s perspective on things and getting Miko’s back during her Yokai reveal. I also really loved them including the underwater imagery when Shiori was describing how isolated she feels from the world and I’m happy other people made the connection. In my personal experience, feeling completely isolated from a world of people you can’t understand or connect with is deeply related both as someone who struggled with depression and as someone with autism. I think it’s incredible how they make Shiori feel both fundamentally inhuman yet also very relatable in the same episode.
