I saw the author, Naekawa-sensei, post on X. She uploads an illustration and a one-page comic after each episode.

The reason Shiori speaks so cheerfully in her human form is because she’s imitating a young Hinako. That detail really shows how much she wanted to feel close and connected to her.

Hinako feeding Shiori human food also explains why she ends up eating it so often throughout the episodes. And in episode 2, Shiori even mentions that Hinako is kind for reminding her to buy lunch ahead of time. There’s also that moment when Shiori is holding Hinako’s hand while they’re walking. She tightens her grip, and it really gives the feeling that she’s making sure to protect her.

There is also the hat Shiori wore and later put on Hinako in episode 6, which looks very similar to the one young Hinako used to wear.

There are so many examples. I’ve already watched each episode several times, but now I need to rewatch the whole series again once it’s over.
