I remember how during the first episodes the story insists so much in driving home how Hinako feels drifting, muted, and alone.

It's so powerful when later we see Shiori subjected to the same imagery, drifting endlessly, grievously wounded, only able to see that which she can never have.

Shiori to Hinako "We're not so different, you and I"

If Shiori was able to better communicate her feelings she would be the perfect person to empathize with Hinako. I love how all the focus on Hinako feeling isolated is paying out double as we can quickly feel for Shiori now that the other shoe has dropped.
