[Spoilers] Diamond no Ace episode 03

First day of practice.

Miyuki is my hero. I love the freshman bullying, too much fun.

I feel that Satoru is gonna have god-like endurance by the end of this. Should help get him a starter position fairly quickly.

The first 2 episodes were great. I loved them.

Sadly, this third episode had the MC be a generic sports anime MC. He's late, he gets punished, he does worse than everyone else, then he has a big speech about how he's special, etc. Also, he's even more of a brat than earlier.

Yeah, it doesn't interest me anymore. There's nothing here that I haven't seen before.

Agree and disagree in some regards. I felt that he was pretty generic from the very beginning (believe in my friends and we can do it, dumb MC who's only good at [insert main focus of show here]) and this episode just heightens the genericness of him.

That being said, I don't mind generic MC's, instead I'm watching for the circumstances and characters surrounding the MC. I can't think of many other strict sports shows (Prince of Tennis excluded) where the MC starts on one of the best team in the nation and focuses on the internal struggle just to become accepted on to the team or even start, rather than being instantly accepted as the ace and focusing on winning the championship.

At this point I'm just curious what they will make the full focus of the show (might just skip straight to the manga). If it ends up just being another "believe in myself and the team" and wins the championship then I'll probably drop it before long but if its more about the inner workings of the team then I'm down for the 20-ish episodes.

Oh yeah, I agree with that. The show just did a good job of putting the MC in a completely unconventional place in the first two episodes(since that was the kind of stuff I did not expect to see right at the beginning).
