I'm conflicted on the buildup of this event. I'm an anime only but the previous episodes including this one just straight up hints heavily towards a Obey Your Master's contested first place finish due to all the screentime she's been having while also making her a bit mysterious. I'm hoping the end of this race is a little more hype and includes some other twists -- but feels like the narration of this whole event arc is kind of leaning one way in her favor. I'm assuming the next episode's narration is going to include some background character information on her just like they did with tamano cross when she won. Feels a bit formulaic but I still enjoy it, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Tamamo was on a tear and a clear top contender while Obey is a literal darkhorse nobody really thought much of at the time in a field of decorated champions

I'm not saying they're the same, just the style of directing this show has seems to follow a pattern with how they build suspense and character development. But I won't know if I'm right until this race arc ends.
