So, someone on MAL explained American, European, and JP "cultural differences" and gave some real race examples. From watching the US Preakness Stakes 2025, it seems like the horses bumped into each other pretty strongly when they fought for positions. I can see why Oguri would be pretty shaken by that.
Anyway, Roppei's condition might be related to this. I assume that he told Oguri to stop fighting for positions and slow down to conserve the remaining energy for the final spurt. In game, late surgers do not require as much as stamina as pace chasers.
