You know, I can say a lot of bad stuff about Isekai Quartet, but the one thing I won't stop enjoying is that it's made by genuine fans of all of these shows. They know obscure lore, they get the characters' vibes, if overplaying their jokes often, and don't let even the normal dudes from Tanya's world sit on the sidelines.

To this day, my favorite moment in the show was when Ainz made it snow when they were all asked to do something cool. He thought back to a once-in-a-lifetime snow he saw with his colleagues in his piece of shit dystopian world with a ruined ecology and decided that that's the coolest thing he could do for these people at that moment. And no one there will ever know how much that actually meant for Ainz himself. That was probably the second snowfall he ever saw.

It was… a genuinely heartfelt moment and very in-character too.

I have a feeling that this season will have a bunch of these "perfect sync" moments with Cid, except on the comedic side. That dude is in heaven right now.

Was the dystopian environment (that Ainz was originally from) mentioned in the Overlord anime? I've only watched the anime and I don't really recall really hearing about it in the anime.

I'm pretty sure it's kinda explained when Ainz has an internal monologue on the Amphitheater about Blue Planet and the time it took him to make the sky. All he said was that his original world was pretty fucked up and you couldn't even see the sky, but that's about it.
