Seeing most of Anne's classmates from her childhood gathered together once more to celebrate Diana's wedding with Fred felt both happy and sad at the same time (mostly happy tho). I'm still not over Ruby's death from a few eps back, so seeing all her childhood friends being together again to celebrate Diana's wedding while she never got to have one of her own despite wanting to marry Herb herself and start a family with him nearly made me cry again T_T. While she goes unmentioned however, I'm pretty sure Ruby's there in spirit and would've gladly celebrated with all of them had she lived to see this day.
Ah, the bittersweet pangs of adulthood. Anne was likely also feeling the same bittersweet emotions while prepping Diana for her big day as her bridesmaid. It's becoming all too clear to Anne that the happy. fleeting days from her childhood are now drawing to a close and that she's about to embark into a new, unfamiliar territory as an adult. It's clear from this ep and her constant rejection and denial of Gilbert's feelings that Anne fears change most of all. The girl wants things to stay the way as they are which is why, while definitely happy for her bosom friend's happiness, she can't help but feel sad simultaneously for how things just won't stay the same anymore, and Diana's wedding was the biggest sign of that.
Lmao, poor Anne and Gilbert keep getting dunked on for not tying the knot (even Anne's own family and Diana are in on it!). It's clear as day how everyone can see how much they're perfect for each other lol. Come on Anne, the boy you should really be with is right in front of you!
