Niikura eating the packet of uncooked instant noodles reminded me of this classic South East Asian snack. It's basically uncooked instant noodles, but actually meant to be eaten in the way Niikura did.

Maybe Arawi Keiichi saw one of these when visiting Indonesia? He did reference a lot of Indonesian stuff in Nichijou.

Basically unlicensed Cookie Monster design that evolved into it's own identity in it's home country (Malaysia). That being said, the snack was first launched in the late 80's/ early 90's, so modern Malaysians won't recognise the connection to Cookie Monster anymore.

these are widely found in australia too. they don't come with the seasoning packet though, licking that is still kinda freaky

the noodle brick is definitely seasoned, albeit rather lightly. disclaimer: i haven't eaten one in like a decade

I presume the Australian ones are resold from the family pack. Those comes with the seasoning seperated from the snack.

That dipping the tongue in the packet of condiment is the first time I have ever seen eaten in that way.

I did that as a kid but only the initial lick, then usually it switches to a finger lol
