So why DOES MC need the child attendant to be a girl?

Is it just me or were all the children they tried first who were terrified by MC a lot younger than the twins? They seemed maybe 4-6 while the twins are more like 8-10 (human years wise anyway)?

I wonder what the deal was with the ministers' reaction to him mentioning the decision to summon the Bug Queen. And hadn't he decided last episode to instead go with a Hero better suited for warfare? What changed since then?

Post-credits: why are Autou and the Dark Elves wreathed in darkness from the Neutrals' perspective? There was no such darkness when the paladins & mercs looked at her.

I think the idea is that girls are just less intimidating. Like, a little girl is the least scary person Takuto could imagine. It's definitely a common trope in the west too, the idea of hyperbolically illustrating things using a little girl. As for specifically targeting a girl, I've seen it a few times, usually in comedies where the little girl turns out to be incredibly intimidating or sassy or hypercompetent or strong or something, and therefore ironically being the worst person to practice X or Y against. And then the protag's already nonexistent confidence is comedically shattered etcetc. Butyeah, this is taking that type of joke farther than normal.

Someone else in the thread said that the author DID give a Doylist reason though - It's just a popular trope to appeal to.

As for the Hero thing, I speculated last episode that his morality was being affected by his Evil Alignment and that it was convenient that he would consider picking another Hero right when he was displaying uncharacteristic behavior (from the perspective of Atou, who presumably knows him best). Since he said that others have problematic personality elements, but he didn't seem to care much about it at that moment. It might be that this flip-flopping is indicative of when/how much he's being artificially affected by his alignment.
