I normally don't watch these type of shows but I began learning Japanese recently (in a very passive way) and decided it was time to start watching some anime without subtitles.
Choosing the correct type of anime for this is also important. I can't be watching something like Monogatari without subtitles, and the other extreme would be children shows dubbed to Japanese but I also don't want to be bored.
And so considering the show premise, I decided to start with this one. And so far I don't regret my choice. I had no problem understanding around 70% of what was said. And them translating some of each other's sentences also helped a lot for some of the stuff that went over my head.
As for the show itself...well cute innit? I like the "soft" colors (or whatever that's called) and Lily's voice is very cute both in English and Japanese. Renji is quite an airhead...chasing a little girl around the game center, does he wants to commit social suicide?
I don't think it was explained why Lily is in Japan. I thought she was there for vacation, but having rewatched the opening I noticed some of the girls (Lily included) were on their school uniform, which means this isn't just a temporary "problem", so Renji better stops digging himself into a deeper hole, otherwise the poor guy will be labeled a lolicon by his peers...
Although I don't think it will become an actual problem, I need to remember this isn't the same kind of story I'm used to reading/watching, this is simply a cutesy comedy with some romance sprinkled there.
