As an FYI, the Kitou family is written as 鬼頭 (Demon-head, or Demon-Leader). It's actually a real, honest to God family name in Japan, although not super common--a family name website says about 19,800 people in Japan have that last name.

The real Kitou family are descendants of a famous samurai family, the branch of the Seiwa Genji (Minamoto Clan). They received their family name because, legend has it, Minamoto no Yoshitsugu was given an Imperial Command to defeat a clan of Oni (Demons) that were in Kishu Province, and as a reward for his successful defeat of the Demons, Yoshitsugu was given the family name of "Kito" -- The Head (conqueror/superior) of the Demons.

Here, I don't think Dandadan had any intention of making reference to that history, but insead it's actually a pun--as Dandadan likes to do.

Kitou 鬼頭 family is a homonym to Kitou 祈祷, pronounced exactly the same way but meaning "To Conduct a Religious Ceremony to a God." Traditional Shinto ceremonies that call upon a God for favor or to avoid their wrath are commonly called Kitou, so the Kitou family is basically a pun on "The Religious Ceremony Family"--while incorporating the rather ominous sounding "Demon" (Oni) character into the name.
