It's a classic.
Mommas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Every generation hates the next one.
"Oh. She's one of those."
"You gotta see the baby!"
"Fortunately, Canada welcomes such endeavours!"
Ah, bridging the generations by dealing with the grasshoppers and cranky grannies of the world in the same episode.
And perhaps it's a quality of the human experience that one always feels the most normal at the stage one is currently in, which in this case allows for cringing at the silliness of youth and the sourness of old age.
Going door-to-door does provide a person with a fragmentarily-peculiar experience of the lives of others. Not just a quiet little village they have there.
Gilbert and Anne's relationship is also proceeding along quite maturely for a couple of teenagers.
