I appreciate that handy recap! Not just for seeing Nico in her underwear again, but to catch us up on Kanshi and his deal and what he brings to the table! Perfect set up for a Kan episode.
I guess it was inevitable that Kan's inability to wisely use his income would come back to bite him and now he can't pay his half of the living expenses! It's time for him to get into the working world and get a job, no matter how much he hates it or the idea of becoming an adult! But what better job for a working adult than in a Hero Show, where you can still feel a connection to your inner child?
I mean, his seiyuu was in Kamen Rider Gotchard! He's got the cred for this! And his physical talent is great enough that he gets to play the lead hero instead of a Fighter! In the Otto-Man hero show that's sweeping the nation among mothers and their children! What could go wrong?
Though Otto-Man isn't your conventional tokusatsu hero. He's a married office man who has trouble communicating with his admittedly hot wife, is very particular about getting on a train, and just has a pretty low-key vibe for a Toku Hero. But at least he's got a cute co-worker voiced by Aoi Koga who is into him and maybe worth having an affair with...until she turns into a Kaijin. Yeah, that about tracks.
I love how Kan jumps straight into the Rider Kick, too bad the monster suit can't really move around, but he's good at beating up Fighters. Less successful for Otto-Man is getting scolded by his boss for being late and then turning up at home to find out he forgot about his wedding anniversary. But don't worry, he's not Otto-Man for nothing! He'll just play his wifes' ottoman and everything is fine! Take note, all dads/husbands.
But there's a reason the Kaijin wasn't allowed to move around much, the suit actor Hironaka has a bad foot and can't really do anything, which hurts because he feels like he disappointed his son who is now in the audience with his wife. But Kan knows how important fathers being heroes to their sons is and exchanges suit so Hironaka can be Otto-Man! And Kan oversells his "cushion" attacks so well that it puts on an amazing show for the audience! Sure, both of them got cut their paycheck, but it was worth it! Even Moi is so impressed that he's willing to give Kan a break for this month! So long as he plays an ottoman!
Do you ever have that boring side-job that's so monotonous that you just wish you could speedrun through it? Well, that's Kan with organizing screws into boxes. Obviously the answer must be using Nico's Kwi-Quick spell to make him super fast. What could possibly go wrong? Even when advised of all the warnings?
Well, for one, he moves so fast in Flash Time that no one can understand him and everyone else looks like slow moving ghosts. And it's just his conception of time around him that's changed...meaning his job is just as slow but takes even longer to do now. And it all pretty much goes downhill from there.
I love how Nico in trying to get Kan to understand her tries speaking SUPER fast.
Kan is isolated from everyone, he's eating more and more, he needs new underwear after hand-washing his own that take forever to get dry...it's utterly miserable. But at least he finally learned how to slow his speech long enough to communicate! Even if the slow lag once he transforms back means Kan's misery isn't over yet!
