At this point I'm expecting that girl who works as Challia's assistant to also awaken as a Newtype. It would also explain why she's running with machu and the gang in the op.

She heard the song last ep, so she is probably a newtype too.

I wonder if she's going to end up being or trying to become Xavier's "mav."

Yeah, I imagine the final clan bat team they will fight is Xavier n Conoli.

Honestly i think it will be Xavier and Challia himself. He probably want to fight thw gundams himself even if he clearly has 0 compatibility with Xavier.

I mean, it's very generous to assume things won't get out of hand way quicker than them just going 2v2 in a clan battle. Challia is already calling in some special ops equipment, next episode is about a space empress assassination. I think (and actually hope) the clan battle thing will be done with in a few episodes, with stakes skyrocketing.

Should the Red Comet reach Earth, I assume it will try to mass genocide everyone in line with Char's darker intents. Sooooooooo maybe that will or won't be touched upon, maybe it will conclude before them ever getting to the glider - and that would make total sense, this story seems to be rather realistic in the sense that things just don't happen to fit the narrative, they logically progress and interact together.

Zeon has a whole institute for them not sure why anyone is surprised.

My only question is who is the cyber newtype bomb that's gonna blow up in a few episodes.

Everyone on the bridge seemed to hear it.

Isn't Challia's entire crew made up of newtypes?

Is explained a lot that Newtype is the future, so is logical that more and more are born

It's also kind of worth noting that most newtypes don't really know there newtypes and that it generally takes a lot for newtype abilities to manifest in any meaningful way, and most of the most blatant and hard to explain away as just intution or something examples require explicit technological amplfication of the powers. Like OG Gundam it took a lot for Char to realize he was actually a newtype himself even as he was intimately familiar with the concept

There are also a low level newtype and super ordinary type of newtype into the mix.

I mean kinda? More than anything else, mainline UC is pretty clear that most characters are wrong about Newtypes. Char and Amuro's prophesied Newtype revolution never comes about (although there's perhaps an argument they're only wrong because steps were not taken to ensure it would).

Newtypes being humanity's future is something people say a lot but never actually comes to fruition, hence the existence of Late UC works like F91 and Victory as well as UC post-UC works such as Reconguista in G.

Yeah you can argue that either: a) Newtypes are just a statistical anomaly that will always exist, but in small numbers (like, y'know, gay people for example) b) Newtypes were supposed to be the future of human race, but were driven to extinction by abusing their powers in all the wars.

Personally, I subscribe to the second idea. First, because Zeon Deikun's newtype theory as it was, was proved to be wrong. If being a newtype was simply a human adaptation for living in space, then sooner or later all the spacenoids would become newtypes en masse, not just a dozen of neurodivergent teenagers every 10 to 15 years. Since even ~100 years after Deikun we have only a handful of newtypes running around, we can surmise people don't just mutate into Newtypes by exposure to space.

Secondly, AFAIK, there aren't any indications that being a newtype is a hereditary condition. Granted, there aren't many newtypes with kids in the first place (few even live long enough to make a baby, welp), but every newtype on-screen had non-newtype parents.

AFAIK in extented lore Amuro has a child that is also a newtype, but it's a "parallel" AU canon where both Char&Sayla join Zeon, so I'm not sure how can we trust it as a source.

Isn't this only like 5 years after the One Year War?

Cool it, Vegeta.

I always thought that line was a little hypocritical coming from the man who made that transformation threshold a bare minimum…

4

u/BosuW May 06 '25

At this point I'm starting to suspect it's the plane and not the pilot!

4

u/illuminovski May 06 '25

Pretty sure by now Gquuux went a different route than the main UC where they later downplayed newtype superiority in later installment.

Not only that, the change in the OYW almost promises it.

In OGUC, The Feds were scared stiff of Newtypes because they were almost all going be Spacenoids and that meant the colonies had super-soldiers. Even as they struggled to win the NT arms race with various flavors of Zeon, they tried over and over to actively repress the existance of Newtypes.

Zeon meanwhile was founded on the philosophies of the guy that invested the term Newtype. Even if the Zabis are just paying lip service to it, there's probably a much less repressive attitude toward NTs meaning there might be more of them out there.

It seems pretty clear that being a newtype is less of an inborn trait and moreso a state of mind that can be developed.

3

u/Yuriski1 May 07 '25

I mean...in most UC shows, half the good guys end up newtypes. And it's been established that newtypes seems to be drawn to one-another.

reminds me of Borderlands 3, everybody's special so nobody's special?

2

u/Hal34329 May 06 '25

Well, if your name is Ava you are extra special, writers blame others for your mistakes and shit

love how so many gamers are collectively salty about that game's writing lol, gives me that feeling of community
