(Anime only watcher)

I don't get it. Why did Rin have to choose between acting and Eiji? It's not like she was becoming an idol that's not allowed to date. From my understanding, idols aren't allowed to date because the agencies want them to have a "relationship" with their fans to sell tickets and merch. That doesn't hold the same weight in the world of acting

Was it because she wouldn't have time to date? I mean, there's no way she would NEVER have downtime. Doesn't seem like a good excuse.

Was it all and skit, and they were actually seeing each other the whole time? Makes a little more sense, but then why did Rin say she needs to tell them she's retiring? Was that a part of the skit, too? Why was none of this explained?

Ending felt needlessly rushed. Season 1 should've ended at (what was supposed to be) the confession, and a season 2 could've explained all of the story after that. Instead, they crammed everything into 12 episodes, and now I'm confused.

Just to confirm the translation thing, she says "あとどれだけ我慢すればいいの?" (ato doredake gamansurebaii no?), which is definitely better translated to what the manga used, or like "how much longer do I have to endure this" (the previous sentence implying she's talking about not being able to see him regularly). 我慢 (gaman) can mean like "self control/restraint", so I can see why they used "holding back", but contextually the "endurance/patience/bearing with" meaning makes a lot more sense here.
