This big loredump was probably handled a lot better in the (light) novel source material and didn't really transfer over all too well into an anime format, but it's obvious that a lot of effort was put into the lore and world-building in this story. If the rumors/leaks of a 20-episode run turn out to be true, we should have plenty of time to unravel the mysteries that have been set up.

Honestly the thing I'm most interested in right now. What the hell do they mean by that?! How the hell do you grow a sword and why would your sword being broken be potentially fatal?! Edit: Now that I think about it a bit maybe it's like the Targaryen's from ASOIAF (yes I'm a book reader) where they can hatch their own dragon and grow up with it but you can also, like Belle did, claim the sword of someone who died if it's noteworthy enough to claim and it accepts you?
