Sometimes I think the writers for this franchise are smoking something and I want whatever they’re having.

What they're smoking is called Desperation, and it's the result of having to write 50 episodes for these characters without obviously repeating the ideas from last year's 50 episodes, or the 50 episodes from the year before that. If you can still come up with something that's both novel and sensible after 150+ prior entries, then the Precures aren't the only Magical people out there.

And, mind you, that'll just satisfy the Precure casuals. If you want to satisfy the tryhards too, you need to come up with something new after all one thousand episodes and movies that came before. Good luck.

I really think the simpler explanation is that Zany Joke Funny and the show is for small children lol.

A little of both really. Precure's had more seasons than most shows have episodes. It's hard to stay original.
