Have not watched this, so I'm missing context. So they woke up a sleeping bear to play with it so that it could... go back to sleep? Why couldn't they have immediately done whatever thing they're going to do next if they're going to do it when the bear is asleep?

In this season animals are corrupted by some evil energy and to get back to the old selves they need to be calmed down. It seems the panda had a lot more relaxing sleep than before after playing with a tire

You could say that about every Precure battle. It’s one of those things you’re supposed to take at face value, along with “talking is a free action”, “blind heroism is rewarded”, and “the villains are only smart for the 3 episodes where it’s required for the plot”.

Indeed, the inherent contradictions in the magical girl warrior formula are exactly what Puella Magi Madoka Magica deconstructs.
