I don't know if OP is a carnist and I'm being quite mean here but it makes me mad that people can understand that it's wrong to justify enslaving HOUSE ELVES, who canonically want it, but not REAL LIFE ANIMALS who clearly don't.

Are they implying that Harry Potter had that trope? Is the B12 overdose getting to carnists or did they completely gloss over Hermione desperately trying to get SPEW to take off, (based off of the real-world Society for Protecting the Employment of Women) and how it very excellently showed that even "nice men" like Harry and Ron and whoever else don't really care about unpaid household labour and the people doing it as long as the work gets done? It's a decent way to discuss the treatment of women and how they were shunned and ostracised, even by other women, when they wanted freedom and financial control and how they were very, very, dependent on their masters (their husbands) to "give" them that freedom.

Hell I see it even now, in India, where women still get asked if they have their husband's "permission" to work and don't have financial control or say in anything that happens in the house but are still expected to put in extreme amounts of work every single day.

But, I mean, the women are treated with respect and given food and water so the husbands keeping financial security from them and their lack of autonomy is fine uwu
