I kept running into this same mismatch with a budget keyboard once, and it usually came down to a stale pairing state on one side. Clear the tablet pair list first and remove every partial pairing entry, then power-cycle both units with both devices fully charged. Place the keyboard and tablet within a meter, put the keyboard into dedicated pairing mode for a longer hold, and only then open Bluetooth discovery again. If the request still never appears, toggle airplane mode on the tablet and off once, then restart and test with no other nearby accessories. For stubborn cases, check the keyboard vendor page for firmware and patch it before attempting alternate ROM or hardware-level steps because those usually come much later in the flow.
