Feel crummy on provigil lately NSFW
Looking for help a little bit here, I’ve been on modafinil for about a year. I started at 100mg in the morning, then 100 and a second dose of 50, then 100 and 100. I felt great for 6 months, super productive, no daytime sleepiness and was happy. It started going downhill from there a bit. I changed two different generics and now I’m on the brand name provigil. My problem is that I have this massive brain fog when I take it now. I have cycled off and I feel so tired. Then I break down and take my dose and I’m irritable with brain fog. When I eat foods with a high sodium content I’ve noticed I completely crash where it’s literally hard for me to walk to bed because I’m so tired. I’ve taken two weeks off then gone back and it comes right back. I’m not sure what is causing it, or what vitamins I may need to take but I’m losing patience. I’ve read up on this quite a bit and I can’t duplicate my good days anymore. I’ve read about depleted choline, magnesium, vitamin k2 mk7. I’ve taken them all. Also, I am very hydrated. I drink at least a gallon of water on a good day. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

High sodium foods such as what? Are these also carby foods with a high glycemic index?

Perhaps you need a full evaluation. Are you sleeping at night? Is your anxiety and depression controlled?

Yes and yes

So, you’ve seen a physician, you’re not anemic, your thyroid is ok, no issues with sleep, anxiety and mood? Ok.
Sounds like you’re on 200mg? Have you tried increasing your dose? What’s the highest dose you’ve used?

Bloodwork is good, I feel like I oversleep and can’t get enough lately. Anxiety doesn’t happen very often. Mood isn’t the greatest because of all of this. I take 200mg in the morning and then sometimes take another 100mg halfway through the day. Not always. I’ve been reluctant to take more but honestly I haven’t tried that.

You can’t overdose. 400 mg is not unreasonable. There is a 400 mg pill by smartfinil, in fact.
If it’s prescribed, ask your doc for the 250 mg Armodafinil. That’s like 350 mg modafinil.

The only thing that concerns me if that there are a ton of “less is more” posts out there

Well, they are wrong, simply put. Look up Armodafinil, which is the more potent R isomer. 150 mg is 200 mg modafinil. The FDA approved Armodafinil at a 250 mg dose, equivalent to say 325 mg modafanil.
Some people get by on less, but some people need a higher dose. It’s got minimal effect on your blood pressure, the most common concern with stimulants. Watch your blood pressure, but it’s not likely to be an issue.
No one has ever died from a modafinil overdose, and people have tried. You aren’t seeing reports of modafinil associated ER visits.
Now, your other option is an amphetamine based stimulant like vyvanse. That may end up being what u need.
In contrast, I’d rather stay on the schedule 4 modafinil and increase the dose.

This says up to 600 mg. You won’t need that much; you can do 400, just watch your blood pressure and take it all in the morning.
