I would like to see this device replicated as a prop.

Oh, yes please!

I've got a couple of observations...

For starters, page 8 of the pdf file at the link below has an image of this beauty with a 6" ruler:

As for the finish, it's got the satin sheen akin to chrome plated brass that LEMO's "Original" line of connectors have for their housings. I'm guessing that a gentle sandblasting of a machined brass pipe, and then some time in somebody's nickel & chrome plating tank will give a really authentic reproduction.
