Adam’s Glasses

Post image

I was watching the VFX Artists React the other day and noticed something weird—Adam’s glasses looked like they had two different lenses kind of stuck together. You can actually see a horizontal seam where they join. Anyone know what that’s about?

Bifocal lenses:
Bifocal lenses are eyeglasses that offer two different prescriptions in one lens, addressing the need for both distance and near vision correction, particularly for those with presbyopia. The upper part of the lens is designed for distance vision, while the lower portion is for near vision, such as reading. This eliminates the need to switch between multiple pairs of glasses.

Oh so you just look down to read stuff up close and use the top part for far sighted vision, cool so you don’t even need to touch your glasses.

Yea it’s a relatively new concept…. Invented by Benjamin Franklin 241 years ago in 1784. 😂

Technically, on humanity's timeline, it is very new.

Thats the old way of having “multifocus”, two glasses with different focal points joined. Nowadays the more gradual focal point is ground in the glass.

People are just now learning about bi-focals…

I thought I read/heard somewhere that he is very nearsighted and the lower part are a weaker (or no) prescription so he doesn't need to take them off to see really close up (I'm constantly taking mine off for fine detail work).

Not sure if I imagined that, though.

They make bifocal contact lenses as well.

This guy ran my dog over when I was 11. The next day he bought my parents an edible arrangement and he got me a stuffed dog but he took out a bunch of the stuffing to make it scientifically accurate. Made me a super fan of both myth busters and throwing stuff into traffic
