I’m curious to watch this and I’ll support Kane Parsons. But I always felt like Backrooms work the best as found footage short films where we never see the protagonist and only experience the absurdness of the environment.
I think the reason why the movie it's so character focused it's because they really try to not explain the "mystique" of the Backrooms too much. Which I think in that regard the movie did a pretty good job because the setting feels really mysterious and unpredictable and even after the movie is done you still feel like you never really get it
I think they could’ve kept that feeling of mystique while focusing more on exploring and discovering the rooms through the perspective of async, the main character and maybe his 2 employees a bit more.
Probably would’ve been ok with the other scenes if the pacing and dialogue were better. I was a bit disappointed that Clark mapped it out like that off screen.
