Discussion Anyone else?

So I’m playing the Witcher 1 and have never gotten an different steel sword or armor for Geralt. The lady of the lake gave me a silver sword but I feel like I only ever use the steel sword. Just looked up and found that there’s better swords though the game is beatable with these starting swords and armor. The game didn’t explain how to get different armor or swords and I travel for work so I go five days in between plays so that doesn’t help me remember what’s going on. I really like this game but did anyone else go through this 60 hour game with the starting swords and armor? I guess I’ve got an excuse to play it again now

Steel swords: There's multiple swords and other weapons that you can loot from enemies and you can carry up to wo of them though they arepretty basic compared to the witcher ones. You can ask blacksmiths to forge a meteorite steel sword if you bring them 3 pieces of meteorite ores: the stats will vary depending on the colors of the 3 pieces. Blacksmiths don't have a dedicated forge menu, upgrading a sword is basically like a buying a new one. I'm pretty sure that the first dwarf blacksmith in the outskirts tells you that he can forge you a meteorite sword but yes, the doesn't explicitly show you how it works. You also get some steel swords as rewards in certain quests with the dwarven Sihil being the best.

Silver swords: You say that you don't use them that much? Why? They are most effective against monsters. You can carry only one silver sword and ask a blacksmith to upgrade it if you bring them 3 runes (again, different stats depending on which runes you use). Lady of the Lake gives you Aerondight, but I kno there's also another silver sword called Moonblade as reward in chapter 5; but I never get it.

Armors: There are only 3 armors in the game. The default leather jacket has one quick slot for potions/bombs. The excellent leather jacket has 2 quick slots and better stats. You can buy it from selected merchants (often those that work as apprentices for the blacksmiths) but it's a bit pricey. Finally, in chapter 5 there's a dedicated quest to create Raven's armor, which has 3 quick slots and allows you to carry 2 daggers instead of one. To craft it, you need to find 3 special pieces: the main piece and the cgaracter who will craft the armro for you are different in each path (Order, Scoia'tael or neutral)

Also, if you import your saved data in TW2, you can start that game with Raven's Armro and any unique steel sword (like Sihil, D'yaebl or Gwalhir) and silver sword (Aerondight or Moonblade) you had equipped.

Ps the other swords and axes that can be picked up I hate the way geralt fights with them that’s why I just act like they don’t exist
