Question Any Places Looking for Work?

Hi everyone, I'm back with the same question again, especially since it's now summertime!

I had high hopes on 2 places where I got to work my first day here in Wexford town, but I've just gotten a message from the lady I was working with that they found 'a better fit'.

I've searched far and wide on Indeed, Jobs.ie, and have asked around plenty of times. My family can't seem to help me much either, my mothers boyfriend insisting that I need to ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, handing in my CV until they can't ignore me, as if everywhere still runs on the same system it did 30 years ago.

I've got experience in restaurants and cafés and am looking ANYTHING, as long as it's not child care.

At the age of 19, with some experience and persistent looking, you'd assume I'd find something eventually, but I'm still in the same place I started.

I'm at the threat of becoming homeless, and it's been absolutely taking a toll on me.

Does anyone know any pubs, restaurants, cafés I could possibly apply in? I don't have a car, but I'm well able to get the bus up if needed. I'm available for full-time, part-time, all of it, as long as I can get some change in my pocket.

I'll keep looking, but the fact that so many of my peers are applying for the same things I am doesn't make me very hopeful.

Being a young person looking for work these days is tough, especially if you're as unlucky as I am.

Any help would be amazing, and I am so grateful for all of the people who responded last time.

If you know anyone personally who's looking for staff, let me know. I do what I'm told to do, no bothers.

Let's hope the summer brings me more opportunities! Thanks everyone 💕

Lads,

Whats a good takeaway to snag? ive had oyo pizza in Duncannon but they are closed on wednesday, and weve tried the few in Wellingtonbridge. Any other heavy hitters to try?

Entertainment Hi everyone, looking for a bit of advice

My daughter is 17 and wants to get out more this summer, meet new people and make some new friends around Wexford Town. She’s not really into sports, so sports clubs aren’t her thing.

She loves the idea of having a fun, adventurous summer — trying new things, getting involved in activities, events, groups, creative stuff, day trips, volunteering, anything really where she can meet people her age and enjoy herself.

If anyone knows of teen-friendly groups, summer activities, local events, clubs, workshops or good ways for a 17-year-old to connect with others in Wexford Town, I’d really appreciate suggestions

Food & Drink Picking your own berries/fruit

Any ideas on places (probably farms) in Wexford where you can pick your own fruit or berries? Looking for something fun to do with the kids and a memory of this surfaced from my childhood - although it took place in north Dublin I’d say, many moons ago.

Based south of Wexford town but would happily drive somewhere for the experience. Thanks in advance!

Happy Out I built a free app for checking beach conditions around Ireland

I hope this is not breaking the "No Spam or Self-Promotion" rule; if so, I'll delete it immediately.

Summer is on the way and the water is starting to warm up, so I wanted to share a small project I've been working on.

I'm based in Waterford but spend plenty of time over the Barrow on the Wexford coast, and I learned to swim during Covid and loved it (I went from being afraid of water to owning three wetsuits and kayaks in about 18 months).

I found the apps and data available for checking conditions didn't work for me. So over the winter (about 4 years ago), I decided to build my own — Seanic shows tides, swell, water temperature, wind, and weather for beaches around Ireland, all in one place.

It's a pet project, completely free, with no ads, no logins, no subscriptions, no business model, and no plans for one. I don't keep or store any of your data — I don't want it. I built it for myself, and I'm sharing it because it might be useful to other people who swim, surf, kayak, or just like heading to the beach.

Wexford beaches in the app run from Morriscastle, Curracloe and Ballyconnigar in the north, through Rosslare Strand, down to Carne, Tacumshin and Kilmore Quay, and around the Hook to Cullenstown, Fethard and Duncannon. You can check conditions at a glance, see tide times, and get activity scores for things like swimming and surfing.

It's on the App Store iOS only if anyone wants to give it a go https://apps.apple.com/us/app/seanic/id6758253787

Happy to hear any feedback or suggestions for beaches to add.

Question Visiting Saltee Island tomorrow. Are there any beaches on the island where you can have a dip?

Not looking to sea swim (don't want to cause an incident), but we have tickets for the ferry tomorrow, and since it looks like it will be a scorcher I wanted to check are they are accessible beaches on the island and is it kosher to have a splash?

**EDIT- thanks all, no sea swimming to be had today but had a magnificent time on Saltee Island.

Sports Casual Soccer Player Looking For Weekly Games

Hi there,

I’m looking to join a casual/social soccer group around Gorey/Kilanerin/South Wicklow.

Mainly interested in 5-a-side / 6-a-side / 7-a-side casual kickabouts.

I’m not looking for anything ultra-competitive — more social football and regular games.

If there are any WhatsApp groups, weekly sessions, or teams looking for an extra player, let me know. Cheers!

Hi, I was given a phone number for a painter in Wexford. This is their website. Eshan is a name assosiated with them. Has any any experience with these guys. I am aware there are a few 'South East' websites pertaining to paint sheds etc. And the same people have similar websites for other regions too. This website does not follow the same template as them but am trying to do due diligance here https://www.sepaintersanddecorators.ie/

Tourism & Travel Visiting on Vacation!

I’m doing my best to make this vacation extremely special for my then girlfriend now fiancé! Weather cancelations caused a gap in our itinerary, so I’m here to see if anyone would be able to do me a favor. This is a long shot but are there any locals that would let me surprise her by bringing her to a farm to give treats to cows, sheep, or any other animals you happen to have? Happy to go out and purchase whatever treats they’d desire. Thanks very much! We are staying in Wexford for a few more days!
