Weaverville apartments

Thoughts on the following apartments

  1. The Holston- can someone clarify, is the “private yard” fenced?
  2. Hawthorne at Weaverville
  3. Retreat at Weaverville

How is the dog park area and is it maintained well?

How safe is it for someone who likes to walk/run?

How is staff responsiveness when it comes to concerns?

Is the community welcoming?

Amenities you liked the most?

What are areas of improvement or things you disliked the most about the complex?

If you stayed long enough to renew your lease, did your rent go up significantly?

Ideally I’m looking for a 3 bedroom with some kind of fenced area attached to the unit for my dog. I would also love to find a complex that has a pool for my kid. Not sure this exists but would love input and ideas!

I live in a 2br at The Retreat, been here about a full year now. I’ve really liked it so far, it’s a very comfortable environment. I don’t have a dog so I’m not sure what the dog area is like exactly, from what I’ve seen it seems more on the smaller side. But I know a lot of folks do have dogs here and they seem to make use of it a lot. I haven’t been in the pool myself yet, but people are out there enjoying it all the time so I’m sure it’s great. My favorite thing about it here is that the maintenance team is super responsive and will hop on any issues or complaints asap, they’re a great crew.

Only downside is a personal one, which is that my roommate and I got unlucky with whoever lives above us. They stomp their feet and make so much noise all the time but I’m sure the other units don’t have to deal with that nearly as much lol.

I lived at The Holston for almost 3 years and it was awful. It was fine at first, I moved in when it was brand new so everything was shiny and new. But the management company changed all the time and each time it got worse. An office full of people who don’t give a shit about what’s going on in the community.

The pool is ALWAYS under maintenance. I’m talking CLOSED for most of the summer each year I lived there with little to no communication. Even when it was open, the gates would randomly be chained up. They never could answer you why and they always said “well the pool is a free amenity.” Like you’re an idiot and don’t know that the cost of the pool is built into the rent.

The gym is nice but the Peloton bikes are always broken.

Rent increases about $50-$70 per month each year while the property falls apart.

I never used the dog park because they would accuse residents of leaving poop in the park and the first fine is $500 and it increases by $500 each offense. They basically issued about 20 fines when they installed the turf and we were all convinced the fines paid for the turf.

I do not recommend this place.

The only reason I haven't moved is because my rent hasn't gone up, the whole place has gone to shit since Alysha left. They were also shaking down residents with a towing company last month.

Not one of the 3 but I live at Highline North apts which is about 5 mins from Weaverville if you have any questions! :)

It’s great! I love it! I just resigned my lease - been here since 2023. Great community. Good mix of like families, childfree home folks (some older/retired, some in 20/30s). Based on graduation times (May and Dec.) theres a few college students here but not a large amount. Apartment does events every month - some family focused, some mingling or education focused. There’s also a regular rotation of food trucks.

Maintenance staff are super nice and helpful anytime I’ve had issues. We have a trash pickup service (someone picks up your trash each night but friday and saturday) but also there is a compactor and recycling on site so you can take your own trash and recycling anytime!

Pet friendly, most people pick up their pet’s waste. We do have a small but great gym and a wonderful pool that is well maintained

Hope this helps!!!

I lived at Retreat for two years and know people who still do. The maintenance staff are the best. I only left because I wanted a bigger place since I WFH and staying there wasn't in my budget. I don't have a dog so can't comment on that aspect. I also lived on the top floor so didn't have to worry about upstairs neighbors but tried to not be that noisy upstairs neighbor.

The Retreat and the Hawthorne are sandwiched around Holston, you could walk you dog around any of them and likely no one would bother you. There is no pedestrian infrastructure outside of the complexes though, so unless you're willing to walk along busy stroads you're stuck driving to anything.

This has currently changed. We are not permitted to have our pets on any of the surrounding communities. The management in the communities have an agreement and are charging any that don’t comply with trespassing so no you can’t freely walk your dog in any three of these communities

Uff, that's unnecessarily shitty of them.

If you want them to chafe, ask them how that muddy money pit in front is progressing 😄

Not really we had a lot of residents from other communities coming into ours and not cleaning up their pet waste. Also had aggressive dogs that they were letting into our pet yard so the residents could not even use it. So I applaud them finding a resolution.

I have lived at the Holston for 16 months and just renewed my lease for 15 months my debt stayed the same. We have a new management team that’s very proactive and making good changes. It’s a very safe friendly community and the amenities are really nice. The pool has been repaired and updated and is in full working order since last fall. There are a few apts with their own fenced in area in buildings 148 and 158. I do believe there are currently two 3 bedroom apts in those buildings available. We have a very nice pet play area that is fenced and very clean. It is Astro turf with a built in sprinkler system to clean it every night. I really have enjoyed living here and I’m happy to be here for another year and a half. My apt is very nice clean updated appliances and well maintained. It’s a gated community that is pet friendly drug and non smoking and zero tolerance. They do have a program for any dogs that requires a DNA test when you sign your lease. This allows them to identify pet owners who do not clean up their pets waste resulting in fines that increase each time you don’t comply. Hope this helps.
