Considering WCU

Hello! My daughter is considering attending WCU in the fall. On paper the school looks great and more importantly they offer the exact program she is looking for. I’m am a little worried about her feeling secluded, we live in a large city in Florida and not sure how she’ll acclimate to a small town feel. We are going to see the campus this weekend but any feedback both good and bad would be appreciated.

Listen, i like western!! Im a freshman here right now from Apex, NC and it’s the best college. You genuinely cannot beat the price unless community college. Western has basically any major/minor combo you could think of! I understand that all these people have listed a bunch of different things to do while at western but a big feeling that hasn’t left is this trapped feeling. Growing up in a town with everything at my fingertips with 10 minutes to going to college in the middle of nowhere really changed my perspective on things. I promise your daughter will make friends, and whatever she majors in she’ll enjoy her professors. Just be weary coming up here, it’s beautiful and it’s an amazing college. But it can definitely be very isolating. The weather and cold isn’t forgiving, after a while into the fall semester my seasonal depression got REALLY bad. But! Freshman years are always like this I figure
