Hi - about how long is the time from applying to receiving an answer about benefits?

I applied February 26th, and I was asked for more information about an employer early March. I uploaded pay stubs and W2s for my out-of-state employer on March 11th. I followed up on March 27th to try to get more info.

I received a message on April 8th from an individual who said I needed to upload more pay stubs. I provided these on April 10th. She confirmed receipt on April 16th and said they would be downloaded and attached to my claim. It’s been silence ever since.

I provided documentation confirming my separation from my last employer as well as my SF-8 from my federal employer. So, I think I would qualify for benefits. But I haven’t even been told no. Do I just need to wait?

Thank you!

Do you remember why they asked for those document? Was it related to unreported wages? It was for a combined wage claim with wages sent to another state.

Probably have to do some basic due diligence another before taking the next step

Am live streaming so you can reply here and watch me explain it

Yes - for my benefit year (beginning Q4 2024), I had wages in DC as well as WA. So I had to provide my DC wages and W2.

OK. have any of these been true since the start of the claim

Travel that is unreported

School attendance

Illness or disability

Received Retirement Pay, Severance pay

I am attending school remotely, but I’ve been doing so for years now.

I received four weeks of severance pay after my regular pay ended March 4th.

Nothing for the other two.

hmm, here is the guide -

  • Is it for GED/Highschool or higher education

1 - Are you at 12 credit or more?

I’m working on my PhD. I’m in the dissertation stage, so there are no classes to attend or anything like that. It’s technically 3 credits a quarter.

I appreciate you helping out by the way!

I applied for benefits April 18. It has now been six weeks and I am in the adjudication process. I am in the adjudication process for Amazon. I was let go there due to negative unpaid time and I also have available benefits from my job prior to that, but I was let go of for medical reasons due to absences and I was wondering what the probability is for me to be approved for benefits. I called the governors office today and got the case escalated however they just escalated it to a adjudicator and assigned someone to view the case and decide eligibility. Thank you in advance.

you were fired for excessive absence - how much/many? in how much time?

Yes, due to medical reasons and FMLA however, the paperwork that I submitted was denied, and that was the reason reasoning for me, not having the UPT time because the paperwork wasn’t acceptable and their terms

Sorry - Are you saying that there was a material deficiency in that form? Do to you remember what is was?

They wanted me to have paperwork that explain the diagnosis of which some information I felt should not be shared. It was to private and sensitive, and because those things weren’t included in the doctors note they denied the case for the leave

Okay... I have never heard that one because HIPAA prevents The vast majority of unauthorized releases

So are you still trying to fix this or have you given up? Because you simply stated that you're not going to comply with what they want you to give them for a paid leave claim

I’ve already been let go so it’s too late to comply at this point. I have several medical issues that took presidency over my attendance. I had coworkers advise me they never had to state the reason and it was all based on the agent that was handling the claim. I’m just wondering my likelihood to be approved for UI

Well I don't think the coworkers had your financial longevity yet heart when they suggested for you to do something that's definitely illegal - and may affect the doctor because they are have their assigned signature on some document that is only a partial authorization

Yes they all do get reviewed. Yes they do off to be complete reasons with all paperwork attached

Next time around let's get together sooner as I have been here for 6 years doing the same stuff

I applied for benefits at the end of March and noted I was completing a masters. I had completed my course work but still have a thesis to write. It was flagged for review because of the school thing. Since then I’ve been applying to countless jobs and filing weekly employment claims. Kept my log ready in case anyone looks at my case.

But how long is the average time for this kind of thing? I had savings which really helped me weather the storm so far but I’m getting scared.

I applied in mid-late March, have no special considerations and have still heard nothing
