In Progress... Work Source registration?

As part of my action plan following my Work Source visit, I was instructed to create a user account @worksource.com. the registration asks that I provide my SS#. Im not comfortable providing that private info to this website. Anyone else object to this data collection? The website has a message that states a new website is coming in June.

Did you already drive down there to WS?

I have a copy of the letter where Federal Dept of Labor sent to all states requiring them to verify he the account.

If not, I believe this issues is stemming from an incomplete understanding of job search activities - but hey I could be wrong. And I'd love to help

Does this help:

I should add that my a Action Plan mentions if I do not complete the assigned activities, it could affect my eligibility to continue to receive unemployment benefits.

If someone has an identity theft concern, or safety/privacy issue, they would need to directly ask ESD or WorkSource whether any accommodation exists for that specific program. There is no general published policy saying the Records Disclosure Unit can waive SSN use entirely.
Btw, ESD is under the umbrella of WorkSource and they already have your Social Security number from wage records and for tax reporting purposes. So you’re probably fighting a losing battle.

What jaded said in second paragraph. It’s to verify you are the one requesting unemployment.

Just like, when someone files for unemployment for me when I was literally working. I am in HR, the payroll member brought me the paperwork sent by ESD to verify I was unemployed when I wasn’t.

One more thing of concern. The Worksource user agreement states they share your info with third parties. ESD already has my SS, that should be sufficient. I have been approved for benefits, this for training purposes. Im not a fan of my PII being given to 3rd parties undisclosed to me who that is. I appreciate the feedback. I plan to go to the WS location tomorrow to learn more.
