Gear Review Dreams do come true: an UL scrunchie now exists

For those of you who’ve let their locks flow free because you couldn’t bear the weight of a hair tie… thanks to High Mnt Gear you can now officially pull that hair back without adding much to your overall weight

Dyneema Scrunchie

I searched the sub and didn’t see anyone post this but apologize if this is a repeat. This product gave me a chuckle but its also a near idea from a smaller brand for those always on the hunt to out ultralight themselves

also sorry no flair seemed to fit this properly

Had to make sure which sub I was in. Thank god I’m bald - think of the weight savings.

Why should we let the cyclists and swimmers have all the fun? Get those legs silky smooth baby!

You can also go uphill faster BUT you'll have less resistance going downhill so will need a bit more muscle to control that which adds weight so you really really need to do a cost saving analysis on this

You don’t have to carry HAIR I’m so jealous

Don’t worry if I don’t shave it off I still carry plenty of hair on my body. Does chest hair count as an extra insulation layer?

In order of importance, facial, chest, arm, & then legs.

I had to check the group because I assumed this was already a jerk post lol.

That said, while this is definitely jerk worthy, a dyneema scrunchy actually seems like a good idea unless I’m missing something. Not for the weight, but because it can get all kinds of wet and dirty without getting nasty, just shake it out in a river. Unless it traps moisture inside…

Gotta be multipurpose, I need this UIAA rated as a climbing sling.

I'll email and ask, also wonder if you can unwind it, string up a bear canister, and then wind it back up in the morning

You haven't lived if you haven't experienced the 99 uses of hair ties in outdoor pursuits

Not a cottage brand, but I would think a Nike skinny hair band would do the job and also work with a favorite headlamp:

But you made me smile. 😄

Ah! I hadn’t heard of it and did some very light research and assumed - my bad.

You seemed to have redeemed yourself with the pun "light research" 😉

Comment written by a man. A regular hair tie is the UL alternative, headband is a different thing

True ultralighters should shave all the hair from their heads and bodies.

AGH! THEY MISSED IT. SHIT!

This was the actual proper use case for the 0.34.

Will it even survive one trip with constant abrasion?
