If it’s worth it, place the order and pay out of pocket. The other day I got an offer for $70ish from Burger King. Of course it was stolen. Told I was like the 10th driver trying to pick it up! Looked at the order details and it was just a single Whopper. Placed the order myself and delivered it. Easy $60 profit! Not the first time I’ve done it either.

Did that once, this one wasn’t worth it 😆 probably a $70 order

Yeah, most of the time it’s not worth it. But sometimes you get lucky!

I usually ask if they can remake it - if you are nice enough and have good relations with the restaurant they are usually pretty cool about it. Not that they should.., but if they agree, I can wait 15-20 mins for 50-60 bucks.

Ive tried to have many restaurants remake the food when it’s stolen, and its super rare that they’ve actually done it for me. They usually tell me that they’ll remake it, but UE needs to resend the order. If you talk to support, they tell you that they are not able to resend it. I just land up wasting more of my time.

Yeah, makes sense. I just turn on my charm, and make them feel they are doing a really good deed in life by doing so 😅. It works, not always, but works. Even Taco Bell once agreed after 10 minutes of negotiation. I made a face that I called Uber, and they can’t resent, but it’s so wrong that these stuff happens to poor people blah blah..😑

What if the customer is the one who picked it up already? I imagine they’ll pull some other shenanigans that will screw you over somehow.

Customer will just get more food for free. They won’t be complaining! And as far as UE is concerned, you completed the delivery successfully. All good.

But if you complete the order they won’t get refunded for the order they picked up. And then their scam didn’t work. While they would get an extra order for free, I would only assume they’re scummy/trashy enough to get upset that someone out smarted them and likely wouldn’t even be able to eat the second order while it’s fresh. Idk I’ve seen too many crazy posts I guess.

I see what you’re saying. But, I’m willing to bet most of these stolen orders aren’t actually “stolen” by the customer themselves.

I had this happened to me once. The customer apparently came and took it. The restaurant told me: can you call Uber and tell them cancel it, because we gave it to the customer. I said :F You, and left. I was mad.

Ya I was pissed when I went out of my way to a shitty area and waited just for them to tell me I’m shit out of luck. I called support like the Karen I am and made sure they investigated bc that’s some bs. Also made sure I got paid, gas too expensive to be playing games with my time and money.

You are lucky to get money out of Uber. They never listened to me, just their phrase: “we will get to other offers, don’t worry”

And how the hell did they verify it was the actual customer? Probably just another thief 🤬 the customer isn't authorized to take those orders from the store anyhow, it's been assigned to a delivery driver. If they want to cancel the contract, they have to contact support.

Yeah, could be a thief. But there are lots of idiots out there, who take zero responsibility. The restaurant and customer should be the ones cancelling the order as well, but they don’t a lot of times. Too much entitlement these days. They even told me things like : “the customer doesn’t know how to cancel it, the system is glitching , blah blah”.

Never thought to do this I may start lol

Why waste your own money? Just do a ghost delivery and leave a note for the customer that the order was stolen. You didn't steal it, not your fault.

Because you can get deactivated for that. Customer will report order not received for sure. Plus a thumbs down too. That’s exactly what not to do!

I did this once and customer gave me a thumb down lol

Call the customer first to see if they got it and still want it first I done it before it was $45 for 19 miles and I only had to spend 10 dollars on the food

What about if it has a code, I’ve thought about doing this when it happened to me but it had a code and didn’t know if they could reprint it since they couldn’t find the name in their system

$70 for a whopper? Huh??

What happens is every time a driver cancels the delivery, the pay goes up. Could have been something like $6 originally, but since the order was stolen, and UE won’t stop sending drivers, the pay keeps going higher and higher until eventually UE actually cancels it. But if you’re lucky, you can just order the food at your own expense and deliver it. You’ll get the full crazy high pay which is mostly pay from UE and not the customer. Doesn’t always work since the food might cost too much to still get a decent profit. But in this case, I got $70 for the cost of a Whopper!
