Someone should educate me, is the existence of literally any point of ignorance about what's happening in literally any other country "USDefaultism"?

KMart was a famous chain in the US which went through a very high profile bankruptcy. Is it really "defaultism" to be unaware that there's some other chain in Australia that goes by the same name?

Nothing wrong with being unaware; the defaultism is claiming that the story must be fake because America no longer has Kmart, instead of taking a second to ask themselves if maybe there's another answer here

This. There's never any presumption that maybe they're working with incomplete information. It's always the other person who must be at fault.
