An update on All American Massacre

Hello everyone!

I figured I’d make a whole new post about this as there’s been a LOT of new developments since the All American Massacre tapes were found last night.

First of all, the tape was purchased by a restorationist who planned to release the footage. This was confirmed by both the seller, and the buyer themselves who reached out to an account on Instagram (a YouTuber I believe). This user posted proof that they were in contact with the buyer, and confirmed that they planned to release the footage.

HOWEVER, shortly after, Tony Hooper himself popped up in the comments to reiterate what he’s stated previously. If footage were to leak, we’ll never see the finished film. Now, I don’t know if this means he was still working to get it released himself, no more than 12 minutes after he commented, the posts regarding releasing the footage were deleted. What does this mean? I have no idea. I’m considering reaching out to the YouTuber to ask if he and the buyer are speaking with Tony, but we’ll see what happens.

Edit: The YouTuber/Insta user, Planet CHH, is going to upload a video in regards to the topic tomorrow, so expect more info then. Hoping for good news. 🙏

Tony has had a quarter of a century to figure this out. Unless he has some sort of insane secret valid reason for not releasing just take what you can and release it.

I’m guessing the YouTuber and buyer are in contact with him since a video about it is being made, so I guess we’ll see what he has to say. I agree it’s kinda ridiculous but I wanna have a sliver of hope for good news.

Do you know the YouTubers channel? And do you know when to expect a video?

Yes it’s Planet CHH. I don’t know exactly when the video will release but I was told it’s sometime today (don’t quote me though- I was told this by another user who apparently heard this, not the YouTuber himself)

Idk why tony is always threatening with never releasing the finished AAM cut if a leak happens. The dude has been saying that the film will be released since the 2000s and again with the failed kickstarter in the 2010s

I have a feeling he just doesn’t want us to see it cause maybe he’s embarrassed how bad it is which is probably why he gave up on it.

Like dude, just give it up! You’ve been at this project since 1998 or 1999 (i wasn’t even born yet) If it’s bad or good, we don’t care. We just want this to be put to rest!

Ive been waiting for this since 2012! When i was a pre teen getting into texas chainsaw massacre lore!

Literally I just want closure 😭 If he’s not gonna release it whatever but the false hope is killing me. I’m curious to see what he’ll have to say tomorrow.

I feel like in the first few years after this movie was made, Tony was worried about copyright issues and stuff like that, but the longer people have known about it, and the more popular it gets, I think he might be embarrassed that it won’t live up to the hype. Which, I get not being satisfied with your work, but there’s nothing he can really do to change the film besides editing it or remaking it altogether.

It gets to a point where, all of the scenes have been filmed, only thing left is to edit it. If he hasn’t done it by now, he’s never going to

Giving fans that desperately want to see the movie an ultimatum is pathetic on his part. It seems like he just wants to bury it really

So, ya'll will never get to see the finished film, even though it seems pretty likely you were never going to see it anyway?

I was also thinking this. ATP Tony Hooper is just dangling this shit over our heads.

Dude will you give it up. People care about this topic and that’s that. It’s fine if you don’t, but we do for very obvious reasons. You don’t need to keep commenting stuff like this. 🗿

So did Tony get mad at someone for posting a fake AI teaser? Almost feels like an excuse to not finish it. Although if there was more to it than that, it would've been helpful if he had said that instead of vagueposting on Twitter.

Clickbaiting fake trailer chimps on YouTube and the like will always be a thing, even for movies that don't exist. Hell that was a thing even before the advent of AI.

From what I could gather, there was more than that. Some guy in the film scene wanted to help finish the movie or smth, but he was a thief with a criminal record or smth?? And he uses ai?? It was all very confusing to me. 😭 Although the actor who played grandpa did make a post the other day about AAM that said “release date pending” that was shared by someone who was helping with the film, so I’m coping a bit and hoping that means it’s not totally over.

Well hey, fingers crossed here as well. Thanks for the additional info!

Has there been an update on this at all?

Not yet unfortunately. But I’m still keeping a close eye out, so rest assured I’ll post an update if I hear anything. 🙏

I understand the frustration with waiting for so long but like it was said the documentary about this lost movie "from what I hear the mona Lisa took over 30 years" and "I truly do have faith well see it". It was also spoken about how even years after the planned release date he kept calling up the actors to see if they should reshoot scenes because he was just so obsessed with making it perfect because he wanted to make his dad proud. And I empathize with that alot. If we never see it, we never see it. (Ofc I really wanna but it's not my choice y'know?) But it was a personal project more then anything to begin. It was suppose to just be like 15 minutes at the start of it all.

This tbh. A lot of people are being super negative about this, but I really wanna have hope that we’ll see it. I’m gonna hold out hope until he downright says he’s not doing it anymore.

Honestly same, but i also am not gonna hold on to the point that the disappointment will ruin me if it don't ever happen. But fan to fan I understand why it would crush someone else tbh

At this point? Why don't they just make it into a comic book? Feels like it'd be easier but then again there is the deal of rights so ying-yang
