AMC quarterly Update

Air temps may have been fixed.
Dolby was fine last time I went.

Noticed some blue tape recently in the back by restrooms and some in the center.

Guessing some renovations are at hand at some point soon.

Hoping this AMC stays around.

The blue tape was likely a reference to the Backrooms movie.

Oh. I gotta see that now.

I don’t see this AMC leaving. CMX will be gone first. AMC is much more conveniently located for like 75% of the city and it’s almost never near empty when I go even at weird times

and even then, the CMX has been relatively busy every time I go to it.

Not sure about that... an insane amount of Fallschase housing has gone up in recent months within walking distance of CMX and looks like a new development going up on Buck Lake Road as well. West of TLH is blocked by protected forest land, north blocked by planation parcels, south by coast... leaving east the most viable direction for growth. I live out that way, and honestly be my preference if it stayed as is but don't see that happening.

The CMX is so much better than AMC in my experiences. Hopefully they don't leave. They've been pretty busy the last few times I went.

I like the CMX much less than the AMC tbh

they are about equidistant from me, but I prefer AMC

CMX rows are too low and far a part for me it feels like I’m so far away from the screen instead of being vertical, and for some reason every time I was there when I was going to CMX a lot there were constantly annoying ass flys flying around

The seating layout in the majority of the auditoriums at the CMX is atrocious. I almost cannot believe that it was designed by exhibition professionals. Terrible theater.

I’ve got Alist and probably live closer to CMX but still prefer AMC

That CMX is truly god-awful. The screens themselves are terrible, (the tensioning on the screen material is very poorly done, and most of them have visible ripples that you can see during the movie), the projector quality is so-so and they tend to run them pretty dim (doesn't help that they deliberately leave the auditorium footlights cranked bright enough that you could comfortably read a book while the movie is playing), the sound is underwhelming, and the seating layouts are awful (in their smaller 4-row auditoriums, the first two rows are ridiculously close to the screen and completely unusable, so literally half of the seating capacity is useless), with most of the auditoriums not even having proper stadium seating, just a single flat level with maybe one short step up in the back row. Several times I've been there they've had the movie playing in the wrong aspect ratio, and the staff will tell me there's nothing they can do to fix it. One of the regular staff members at the service counter constantly swears like a sailor while assisting customers (doesn't bother me personally, but I've seen them do it in front of kids). The concession stand (or rather, the concession labyrinth) is slow as molasses.

So the technical quality of the exhibition is poor, the comfort is standard, and the staffing is amateur hour. Totally hopeless facility that I would go out of my way to avoid, unless you just don't care about theater quality at all. The only reason I ever rarely go there is if they happen to have some kind of special limited-run event programming that AMC isn't showing. For everything else, my AMC A-List membership is everything I need, and I love that theater.

Dolby blows anything CMX has to offer out of the water and that’s why I go to AMC

Hello everyone,

I can clarify a few things in this thread and add some extra information, The AC has indeed been working, both of the larger rooftop units that cool the front of the theatre are having work done on them in the coming weeks (new compressors) so hopefully this will end then issues the theatre has been having over the past few summers, I could write a book about the myriad of issues that have occurred with these units. I can also share that the theatre will be upgrading all the xenon projectors to lasers in July and that the IMAX theatre is undergoing a FULL remodel which includes plush recliners and a laser imax projector which will start at the end of August and hopefully be finished by Dunesday!

PS yes the blue tape was for the backrooms!

Ain’t but one AMC in Tallahassee. Others are 2+ hrs away.

There was a trend last year where ACs were down.

They are staying around. They are currently shopping bids to redo the IMAX theater completely.

And I've seen a few movies lately and i wouldn't call it bustling or anything but it is summer time.

There’s a renovation of some sort in the works
