Tajiks are either Sunni or Sufi. Pamiris are Shia. Most Tajik Shias (at least in TJK and UZB) are converts.

Interesting, So it could be that my generation before me converted to Shia or im part of a really tiny religious minority then. Also for context, im a Afghan Tajik if you might wonder.

I have met a Zoroastrian Tajik family, so there are every kind of us.

I think according to my family, we are from Herat aka the North west in afghanistan before we migrated to Germany.

Ohhh so lowkey to me that kinda make sense like influence-wise (in the most respectful way ever)

Pamiris? Wow, howd did they became shias?

Nosiri Khusrav was prosecuted for being Shia (r maybe smth else) and ended up in Badakhshan. That's how, I think.

We have never been Sunni to begin with

I heard the Tajiks in Tashkurgan China are Shias, but I wonder if they are still religious at all..

I,m shia from iran. Can I help you?

2

Hello, mim_afshar  nice to meet you how is it like in Iran now?

1

u/mim_afshar 15d ago

I'm happy to meet you too.

Iran is doing great these days. People are full of positive energy and high morale. Every night, in the streets and squares of thousands of large and small cities, people gather, wave the Iranian flag, and stand united against the enemy, despite political differences and disagreements.

Which country are you from?

Well im in germany right now but my family and my main family nationality is afghani or more specifically afghani Tajik. Are you using a VPN?

1

u/mim_afshar 15d ago

Yeah, I’m using a VPN. Reddit has sanctioned Iran, and we need a VPN to use Reddit 😌 Soon, there won’t be anyone or anything in the world capable of sanctioning superpower Iran.

What does “Afghan Tajik” mean?

I love the Persian language all across the world. Are you Persian-speaking? Or has your family forgotten Persian?

2

u/TypicalJournalist126 15d ago

Yes i'm persian speaking and my family also and Afghan Tajik (technically, Afghan originally is a synonym just for Pashtun Speaker so im just using the Modern version of the definiton of this term) anyways it means Tajik who have citizenship in Afghanistan or they came from Afghanistan and they are actually the second largest in afghanistan as a enthicity. Are you a government supporter in iran?

1

u/mim_afshar 15d ago

That’s interesting. I didn’t know that point about Afghan Tajiks. Thanks for increasing my knowledge 🙏

Yeah, I support the government. Of course, there are criticisms. As long as infallible human beings (the Prophet and his family) are not ruling, there will always be criticism of governments. That’s why we are waiting for the final promised savior.

But despite that, I still support the government. And not just me — the overwhelming majority of Iranians support it.

World media outlets like BBC and others lie a lot about Iran’s political structure, my friend 🙂

1

u/TypicalJournalist126 15d ago

Why do you support it?

1

u/mim_afshar 14d ago

Why shouldn’t I support it? I need to have a reason to oppose it, right?

2

u/TypicalJournalist126 14d ago

No just asking, the Iranian government is simply controversial  worldwide and the Western or german propaganda may have influence me to more anti iranian unintentionally. Not trying to make a debate

Shia revert*

1

u/Ok_Bad2216 14d ago

How do you revert to shia

1

u/cat_owner613 15d ago

Do you count Ismailis?

1

u/TypicalJournalist126 15d ago

Technically, yes i think? Because they are tajik in nationality.

2

u/cat_owner613 14d ago

Then sure. I think Pamiris are a sub group of Tajiks anyway. Also Tajiks in general being Sunni instead of Shia is a big tragedy. Sad. But also I wish we all together could revert back to Zoroastrianism.

1

u/TypicalJournalist126 14d ago

Are you a Zoroastrianist in convert or like actual born into it? And whats in Zoroastrianism if i may ask

3

u/cat_owner613 14d ago

I’m Tajik born into mixed Sunni and Ismaili family. Not a Zoroastrian. I just think it fits better since it’s our ancestral faith. Islam is a foreign religion that violently was enforced on us.

1

u/TypicalJournalist126 14d ago

Okay, yeah Pre Islamic Tadjikistan was heavily Zoroastrianism and Islam was violently enforced on them via Conquest, so your views make sense.

3

u/cat_owner613 14d ago

And now we have cucks in this country who wanna cancel Navruz because it’s “haram” apparently.

1

u/TypicalJournalist126 14d ago edited 14d ago

Mostly just Strict Islamist or those loser extremist oppose it, Most Shia Muslims celebrate it and is Respected in Muslim community.

u/ljsherri 13d ago

I met a few Twelver Shi’i Muslims when I was living in Dushanbe. From what they told me, there’s no mosque for them to go to comfortably or a wider community to engage with.

According to Shi'a belief, lineage can also be passed down through a daughter. All those who are descendants of Hasan (peace be upon him) and Husayn (peace be upon him) — the two grandsons of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) through his daughter — are called Sayyids.

In Afghanistan, there are Sadats of every ethnic group. They are supposed to be descendants of the Prophet Mohammad's family
