Money exchange

What’s the best place to exchange money? And how much sober really need for a week? I assume most places have credit card capabilities but we want to be able to have enough for tipping and small purchases.

Just use the ATM at the airport or at one of the many banks as you go.

This is the easiest way, but check the fees. Some banks will reimburse. (Fidelity)

If coming from the USA, you can order it at your local bank. Also, you can exchange up to 2k USD at the airport or use an ATM there.

If you don’t want to worry about it when you land you can get a few hundred $ worth at Wells Fargo or other bank.

When we landed at PPT we went straight to the available counter for money exchange from USD, which was super easy. We might not have gotten the best possible rate in the world (maybe we did though), but the ease and simplicity was worth it. I felt like it was similar to using credit/debit card as it is here in the USA.. Larger/more established shops and food vendors all took credit cards, but small fruit stands, market vendors, or food carts seemed happier with cash transactions. I think we might have exchanged $400 USD for 12 days on our arrival. We used it all and did not need to use ATMs to get more cash out.

Got the best rate I could at the ATM at the airport using a Wells Fargo account. Exchanged $800 USD for two weeks of cab rides, tipping and small purchases.

Edit: No exchange fee from Wells also

Use the ATM at PPT as others have stated. How much you need depends on your personal plans and spending habits, but unless you're going to a very remote island, you will find ATMs are available in most towns

Bin euros and change them here in Tahiti, the rate for euro exchange to francs are fixed. Hotels take commission but you can also exchange there. There wise at the airport or using the ATM machine
