When do international students usually come home during breaks?

I’m moving to Ireland this year in September and I saw that i have winter holidays from 21st Dec to the 3rd of January, and then summer holidays in may i presume? Do international students usually end up going home during the winter break considering they have exams right when they get back? Do they go back to uni during the study weeks?

Entirely depends on your access to money for plane tickets if people go home on short mid terms

My kid comes home for 2 weeks over Christmas. Last year that was December 19-Jan 5 for Galway and I think exams were before break.

That sounds like a very short winter break, which uni is that? Most have about a month off for students (admins may be back sooner, so you may be seeing that). A lot of international students who can afford to go back home twice a year will book a changeable ticket, and then once the exam schedule comes out in October/ November, may be able to move their ticket forward. Many exams are online/ essays that can be done from the home country, too.

im going to maynooth i just checked their online calender for next year im not fully sure if it’s going to be accurate
