Security concerns

Concerning Steamlink.. my son lives primarily with his father but will be with me most of the summer. He has a steam account on the computer that is at my house and now he wants to play at his dad's. They want to use his dad's chromebook which I guess will not download steam but can download the steamlink. They kept discussing around me that he was going to bring the chromebook over to link it. I said absolutely not..I am not having his dad's chromebook linked to my computer. Am I wrong? I think this is very much a privacy issue.?

Steam link will not allow your son to play games from the computer at your house while at another house on another network. Unless you have a vpn setup between those two networks? But I suspect that is not the case

This is false. Steam link has been able to work over the Internet for years now.

You can use any Wi-Fi to play as long as you set it up with your computer and Wi-Fi first

I guess one of his friends (who is much more technically inclined than anyone in our family) has his link set up to where he plays on his tablet at school.. so that requires a VPN?

No, this is extremely outdated. You just need to punch in a code that the host computer generates once to link the two devices - that's why they want to bring the chromebook.
