Roast My Idea Built QrNotify: QR codes that let people contact you without revealing your phone number. Roast my idea.
After months of building this alongside our jobs and other commitments, we're finally live.
What started as a weekend project slowly turned into something we kept coming back to. We realized there are many situations where people need to contact someone about a vehicle, pet, lost item, charger, apartment, equipment, or asset, but don't necessarily want to share personal phone numbers publicly.
So we built QrNotify.
The idea is simple.
You place a QR code on your vehicle, pet tag, luggage, apartment, equipment, or anything else.
Someone scans it.
You receive an instant notification.
Both sides can communicate without exposing personal contact details.
A few examples
- Medical & Dementia Care: "Wandered off or needs assistance? Scan this tag to contact my family instantly."
- EV Chargers: "Let the next driver ping you to swap the plug once your car hits 100%."
- Smart Pet Collar: "Found my pet? Scan to contact my owner instantly."
- Stress-Free Travel: "Luggage mix-up at the airport? Scan and coordinate a swap safely."
- Medical Asset Tracking (via QrNotes): "Infusion pump or wheelchair misplaced? Scan to check department status, view the latest calibration date, or report a breakdown directly to maintenance."
A few things that make it different
- Anonymous double-blind communication. Neither side sees the other's personal contact details unless they choose to share them.
- Instant notifications via email and push notifications whenever someone scans your QR code or sends a message.
- Chat requests are reviewed by the owner before a conversation starts, helping reduce spam and unwanted interactions.
- Abuse reporting and moderation tools. Users can report misuse, and QR owners can disable or manage their QR codes at any time.
- Dynamic QR codes through QrNotes. Update information behind the QR code without reprinting it.
We've also spent time thinking about pricing. We wanted it to be affordable enough for individuals while still covering infrastructure costs.
Current pricing
- First QR code comes with a 30-day full-feature free trial.
- After that, QR slots cost ₹199 per QR per year.
- Slots are stackable, so if you need 5 QR codes, you can purchase 5 slots.
- Users can print their own QR stickers or tags using downloadable high-resolution files.
We're also exploring B2B applications
Some areas we're looking at:
- Asset tagging and equipment tracking
- Residential communities and apartments
- Hospitality and hotels
- Healthcare and hospitals
- Logistics and operations
- Manufacturing environments
- Internal support and maintenance workflows
Some of our earliest discussions around this idea happened on Reddit 1-2 years ago, so it feels good to finally share a live version.
Would love to hear what you think and where you see the strongest use case.

How will you acquire? CAC will be super high if you decide on performance markting.
