The room that they gate into could very well be just a box in space, and I'm wondering if there's anything later to contradict this.

If the only purpose is to hold the Ancient archive then it wouldn't need to be ON a planet, right?

It could be, but why bother making a ship when you can just make a building on an uninhabited planet?

Or hidden inside a moon of a planet that wouldn’t be expected to have a gate, like a gas giant with no habitable moons or planets in the system.

Space is so ming bogglingly large that there isn’t much meaningful distinction between your post and the one you replied to.

It’s >99.999% nothing. Finding anything at all without knowing where to look is beyond a fool’s errand.
