Rewatch IMO one of the creepiest, most self-absorbed characters on TV, completely irredeemable

General George's prepping

Is anyone else watching this in June 2026 and thinking that George's prepping and stockpiling of water and food seems like a pretty great idea?

General Dinner party episodes are too beautiful

I'm currently on my 3rd rewatch and on S5E4 - Time Flies. The build-up is amazing, we see a VERY IMPRESSIVE fight from Nate and Brenda, we see George and Billy talk about their treatments lol.

I guess we get one of these maybe every season? The first one where Nate took x was hilarious too hahaha

Question Do you know the episode where Brenda told Maya that her mother is dead?

I am searching for that episode, I remember that Nate was upset. I would like to watch it again as a couple I know did had the same fight recently.

Question Lisa Spoiler

The autopsy determined that she drowned and assuming Hoyt did in fact kill her how did he manage to drown her? He held her head under water? Wouldn’t that take a lot of time, effort and brute strength? Did he carry her body out to sea after she was dead to make look like it was an unintentional drowning? I’m just trying to understand how he did it.

General Michael C. Hall flossing

In season 1 or 2, Keith asks David if they're going to have sex that night. David says yes but i need to take a shower, after the shower we see David brushing his teeth and flossing and it is SO funny because it's Dexter in the opening credits. of course, years before Dexter came to be. it's silly but made me chuckle

First-Timer As a Nathaniel with epilepsy, dating an Isabel, with a boss named Claire, and also being in the LGBT community, this show is definitely a little weird to watch Spoiler

I just got to the episode where Nate has his first seizure from the AVM and starts taking medication. While I don’t have an AVM myself, I see a lot of similarities between myself and Nate with how I first processed my epilepsy diagnosis. Like Nate, I also had an incidental finding on a CT scan when I was getting my epilepsy diagnosed, but for me it was a Chiari malformation rather than an AVM. Similar symptoms I have to watch out for though, like frequent headaches and dizziness. At least for me it doesn’t have a chance of randomly killing me, although my epilepsy could and that scares me.

The first scene being a guy named Nathaniel getting killed by a bus was disconcerting, then the whole Nathaniel & Isabel thing was really weird since my partner is also named Isabel, but now with Nate having seizures… the connections just keep stacking up! Loving the show despite how close to home some of it is hitting.

Discussion Nate completely unlikable in season 4?

2 episodes to go in season 4 and need to vent. Does anyone actually like Nate AT ALL in the season??

Season 1 he is great and despite his flaws, I rooted for him the most.

Season 4 the only redeemable thing at all is his caring for maya.

WTH happened?!

Thanks for let me vent lol

First-Timer Season 3 hair Spoiler

Did they really shave Peter K’s head for the surgery scenes? if yes- did it not grow back the same?

It was just noticeable how Brenda points out his “nice haircut” before he goes under the knife then not long after that we see him in season 3 with some dopey mop do.

I rlly thought that was our clue that it wasn’t the same Nate , we “woke up” in an alternate reality from season 1/2. Was waiting for about half that season to get out of the marriage to Lisa

Opinion Fade to white and split diopter as narrative techniques

Watching the show for the first time and there are two things I find really intriguing:

1- Fades to white: I love how the transitions are tipically made with fade to white instead of the traditional fade to black. It's a small thing, but kind of reminds us everytime what this show's about: life and death, as if we're going to the afterlife in each transition.

2- Split diopter: as a film student, I've always been fascinated about split diopter, and I probably have seen more on this show than in the rest of my life lol. Love how all the directors use it, not just Alan Ball, and how they use it to show the claustrophobia in this series, as well as the different focuses.

Opinion Possibly a controversial take

I cannot standBrenda ——she’s so self-absorbed and selfish and the way she treated Nate was deplorable. All while being, completely dishonest about it. and I like Nate —I’m not sure why he’s considered flawed in this sub though I’m sure I’m gonna find out now!!! lol

It’s already gone

Discussion Just finished final episode

I previously posted character rating at end of season 2 I had Brenda Keith Claire on my most annoying list

but OMG the character development is insane Brenda I love her all of sudden Claire my favourite and same as Keith

And holy writing final episode is perfect everybit of it. it got me into tears and I will miss watching something so meaningful

What I don't understand why Nate was so drawn into Maggie even though Brenda 100% understand him more

Discussion Barb and Maya. Spoiler

Do you think Barb would have pursued custody of Maya after Nate’s death? I’m sure she was still dealing with PTSD from witnessing her cheating, murderous husband take his own life, but it crossed my mind during my most recent rewatch.

General I'm sure this has been brought up before, but... Spoiler

In his final phone call with Lisa, the last thing Nate says before the call is totally dropped is "I'm losing you".

Probably not something you pick up on your first viewing, only for it to absolutely click on rewatches.

Question Did Nate or David go to college? Spoiler

We know that Claire went to lack LAC Arts.
And we know that Rouster didn’t go to college… I just wondered. Just wondered if they went to college at any time.
