That flame broiled patty has a lot better flavor than fried on the flat top and it’s less greasy.

I've had a couple whoppers lately and I have to agree I'm really liking them.

100%. The worst low grade beef broiled with flames is vastly superior to ANY grade of meat cooked on a flat top. The only thing burger king misses too often on the Whopper is that the patties require a dash of salt + pepper to make them come alive. They come without salt too often. This is why I will perish on a hill claiming a well-done Burger King Double Whopper is superior to Five Guys even ignoring price.

Five Guys burgers are ok.

I will stand next to you on that hill, comrade. As a Texan, I should, by default, have Whataburger in my #1 spot, but GODAMN a whopper is hard to beat.

Hadn’t tried one in YEARS and had the Mando one a week or two ago and it was delicious. The fries were on point as well.

I worked at Burger King about 8 years ago, and a salt and pepper blend is supposed to be added to the whopper patties, but not the smaller patties for whatever reason. But a lot of the times the salt and pepper blend was skipped over for speed. Even though it literally only took 2 secs to add.

Idk how big the salt&pepper dispenser thingy was for you, but the one we use is way too wide for smaller patties. I'd be seasoning the wrapper mostly.

Did the manufacturer salt it for preservation reasons? Maybe I'm weird, but Ive never needed to add more salt food. Especially fast food.

The pickles and mayo add some salt to it, but for the meat to have a more meaty flavor, they can be helped a lot with a small amount of salt and or pepper.

Pepper I could definitely see. Maybe I'll hit up a BK Lounge and try doing a whopper with a touch of salt/pepper.

Bk Lounge. I get that reference. Well played.

Not without the coups, baby. Not without the coups.

Salt helps meat taste more flavorful and meatier in general. It’s why it’s added to basically every steak

Yeah, when I cook a steak, or a burger, or whatever, I'll use some sort of seasoning. Which always has a ton of salt.

But for something that I am paying to be cooked for me, I guess I expect that its going to be seasoned/salted enough to taste good. Without having to add more.

That's a fucking bold claim. But. I have to reluctantly agree. Those whoppers fucking hit different, even when you're not fucked up. And they are massive. If you could get Cajun fries at Burger King I don't think I would go anywhere else for a burger.

Agreed. They did not. I was referring to McDonalds and Wendy’s and other burger places. I should have been more clear on that.

It never stopped being flame grilled in the UK. A double whopper with cheese is probably my favourite 'large' burger of any of the chains. That and they give military discount!

They should have a marketing campaign about that.

That’s not what changed, though. They’ve always flame-broiled their burgers. Officially, all that changed was the mayo, the bun, and the presentation (it comes in a box now).

Thing is, it actually is better. Like way better. So, my suspicion is they cracked down on quality control and training of the employees.

Hmm, but the best burger at its best is a smash burger. When you get a good one from a place that knows what they're doing, it's heaven on earth.

Agreed. I have gotten a few from places that had a cook that didn’t know how make them properly. You could attach them patties to a grinder and sand a rusty bumper with them.
