Got the new Shake Shake BBQ rib sandwich today: $13.99! Just for the sandwich. That said, it was real, whole baby back ribs that they removed the bones from and put on a sandwich, but still…
At least where I am - Shake Shacks are normally positioned in wealthy areas. Ive gotten a combo before for like 20-25$. While the burgers are tasty the size of the burger and the amount of fries does not really make up for that.
It’s the same reason I don’t go to Five Guys - expensive meals for a burger and fries that won’t really blow me away.
You can literally go to a sit down restaurant and order a gourmet burger for the same price.
In-N-Out is by far the best price to food and taste ratio out there. They win - period.
Of course the best will always be the ma & pa local chains, but in terms of fast food
I legit never understood Anthony Bourdain’s obsession with the chain. To the point that every time he was asked his favorite burger, he had to bring up In N Out. Every time he did a show in California, he had to show himself getting In N Out.
When you pair it with, say, Dwayne Johnson going to In N Out “for the first time” once every couple years on his social media, other A Listers like Julia Roberts posing with the shit, it legit makes me think they have a bunch of celebs on payroll doing covert advertising for their very mediocre product.
i realize hyperbole is what it is, but you shouldn't just make up numbers
from a taste standpont, i like it better than mcdonalds/burger king/wendys, but shake shake was much better. the potato bun is just better. but tastes are subjective.
but as to your claims of price, an in & out patty is 2oz precooked. shake shack patties are 4oz. so a double double is the same amount of beef as a single shackburger
so going by houston (closest in&out to me) prices, the double double is $5.55
again going by houston prices, $7.49 for a single shackburger
$5.55 x 2 = $11.10
$11.10 > $7.49. saying it is about 40% more expensive would be more accruate
Don’t you dare mention Shake Shack and five guys in the same sentence. Shake Shack is worth every penny, five guys is just a normal burger joint with nothing special going for it.
I like ‘Five Guys’ just fine…still don’t think its in the same league as Shake Shack. Obviously, if you work there, then you know how the sausage is made (so to speak). That probably changes your perspective a bit. :)
Of course it also depends on what you are looking for in a burger. It needs to be tasty of course, but some people like me enjoy the simplicity of ‘Shake Shacks’ burgers. And the ‘softness’. I’m also very much a fan if the way you cut the buns. Its all the little things.

This is my thought too, shake shack and 5 guys easily cost double what the other burgers cost, so yeah they better be better
