Discussion/Questions Best Build Silksong, Day 1: Crest Spoiler
While playing, thinking about what tools to use, I thought about what would be the best silksong build according to the community.

That diagonal pogo works so well in so many bosses, that I'm convinced the fights were designed with that in mind.

It's so satisfying to use! It almost feels like Sekiro. Even the parrying feels forgiving sometimes, particularly in the High Halls gauntlet.

Turns out your pogo being both really fast and also an offensive reposition is really strong

Reaper
Funny how everyone has different answers.
It's a good indicator that each Crest is balanced, and they have different strengths.
Hunter is the most well-rounded and has the most consistent DPS. In turn it doesn't exceed in any category.
Wanderer is the fastest with high DPS, but short range.
Reaper doesn't have much DPS, but it gives the best survivability.
Beast has crazy DPS when focused, high risk for high reward, and a very interesting pogo. If you get hit you lose the focus though.
Architect has the most Tool slots, you can use Tools indefinitely as long as you have Shell Shards, but no spells.
Witch has an interesting moveset, it's also well-rounded and it's Bind, while it can miss for no healing, actually deals damage.
And Shaman is the only one that allows you to equip multiple Spells, in turn having less Tool slots and no Red Tools.
I choose Reaper because it saved my ass during Steel Soul and made the Forum not as excruciating on my Speedrun for the achievement.

Look, it's blatantly Wanderer. It might be less fun, but if the biggest criticism of the Crest is "it trivialises everything" that means it's the best one to use for success.

If we are talking about the crest in a vacuum, without any specific tools then prob the most op one is hunter, mby wanderer. If pairing with tools i would say architect. Put on cogflies and tacks with polip pouch and watch the game play for itself, literally
