Incompetent Cervix 23 weeks
This is an IVF pregnancy after years of infertility and one loss.
I was traveling back home to see family and even did an ultrasound on 22w4days all was perfect , cervix was closed and long. When I hit 23 weeks something felt off, I felt strong pain under my belly near my pelvic area it came in waves and would last 1 min…at the time I thought it was round ligament pain. But it wasn’t , it was contractions. The only reason I went to the hospital was because I saw some bleeding later that night.
I got to labor and delivery, they do an abdominal ultrasound baby is ok and everything seems fine, but the dr said let’s do transvaginal to rule out anything. When she did the scan, she was shocked you could tell from her face.. she stayed quiet . Then told me I was 2-3 cm dilated and my cervix was completely gone… & I have bulging membranes . I didn’t understand. She told me you are losing this baby. I quickly let her call my dr and my dr writes up a list of medications to take and I’m admitted to the hospital…basically saying I’m going to give labor any moment.
My dr said he would come in the morning , as it was midnight and nothing could be done now. I didn’t sleep at all.
Next day I’m told we need to wait 2 days to see if the bulge would decrease , to see if can do the cervical cerclage. The 2 days pass they seem to think they can do it and I go into surgery & wake up and told there wasn’t enough cervix to perform the surgery. So we are on bed rest and meditation now. I’m now 24w+1day. The bulge changes in size everyday.
I’m so scared and worried . I just don’t know how to feel.

I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this. I can relate to having a perfectly normal anatomy scan, just to find out that there was no measurable cervix left! With my understanding, once you are 24W you’ve hit viability and they should be giving you magnesium to ease contractions and steroid shots to strengthen babies lungs. Are you in a hospital that has a NICU that takes babies that young? You may also be surprised with how long you can prolong labor. I followed this girl online who’s water broke at 19w and she ended up going on bed rest in the hospital and not having to deliver until 31 weeks. I would ask them what options you have

Thank you so much 💖 I’ll check my options with them.
yes my hospital viability week is 24 weeks and I’ve taken the steroid shots and magnesium.

Hang in there! You never know how this is going to go. Stay hopeful for your baby. If it helps check out success stories for 24 weekers in the NICU parents group.

I'm so sorry 💕 sending you positive bed rest vibes and hoping baby stays put for a few more weeks. I'm glad you're in the hospital and it sounds like they're doing everything they can.
It's very normal to feel scared, take it one day at a time. Please keep us posted!

I hope I can provide some hope here! My situation was almost identical to you. Had a routine appointment at 23 weeks 4 days and they found I had an incompetent cervix - 3cm dilated, no measurable cervix, bulging membranes, as well as an amniotic fluid leak so PPROM. I was sent to labor and delivery and told I would have to stay there until my baby was born. They prepared me that I was likely to give birth immediately, and I didn’t qualify for a cerclage because of PPROM. I ended up staying pregnant for another 7 weeks in the hospital on bedrest and my son was born at 30 weeks 4 days. He spent 8 weeks in the NICU but now a year and a half later, he is perfectly healthy and happy!

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this stress ❤️. Are you at a hospital with a level 3 or 4 NICU?
