And Just Like That... We Have New Rules
For starters I want to apologize for the lack of moderation that has been going on around here. There are only two of us active mods and both of us are going through big life transitions right now. We have talked recently and will be more active now that the new show is premiering.
Speaking of the new show we will be implementing a weekly watch discussion. The discussion will take place on r/Andjustlikethat starting tonight at midnight PST. We ask that all discussions pertaining to the new show take place on the new subreddit. Posts on this subreddit will be removed if a spoiler tag is not used or if the headline contains a spoiler.
Finally we ask that users continue to be respectful towards each other. There's been an influx of reports of bullying including some exaggerated reports. This subreddit is a safe space for all Sex and the City fans and racism, misogyny, and harassment in general will not be tolerated. The person who recently started drama has deleted their account so there's not much more we can do. If you feel you are being the target of harassment please report the comment AND send us a ModMail so that we can react quickly.
Thank you for making the subreddit a fun place and we look forward to watching the new show with you all.

Carrie’s worst ex Spoiler
Im currently rewatching from season 5 and I think that in all my rewatches I must have skipped the Jack Berger of it all because watching it back, I can’t believe how awful he is.
It feels like he was always causing fights and stirring things up due to his own insecurity, but it makes me think about who Carrie’s worst ex would be.
I would have to say Berger because of everything he put Carrie through, and especially because of the way he ended things with her.
But I’m curious to know other people’s opinions. Is there anyone you can think of worse than Berger? Or any Berger defenders out there? I want to empathize with him but I find it quite difficult.
Also at the end of s6e6 when Carrie throws the flowers he got her off the table after finding the sticky note - wow I love this scene. I really find it beautiful and as a viewer you can’t help but feel the heartbreak Carrie is going through.

Here’s to an end of a great month! 🥂 In honor of the blue moon 🩵tonight, here’s a post dedicated to one of my favorite scenes from the series..
And | looked, the moon had turned to gold 🌕
Blue moon
Now, I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon 🎶
🩵
I swear I love this scene with my whole heart! It was one of the very few scenes in the earlier seasons that had me adoring Steve for how romantic he was (and that’s saying a lot cause I usually don’t care much for his character lol).
Everything from the dialogue to the way it was shot to the song choice was just gorgeous. I hope y’all enjoyed that scene like I did 🎬🥺
For anyone interested, the song ID from this scene is
“Longing” by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Michael Brook
🪷🌙✨🧘🏽♀️

Sex and the City TV Guide collector covers (June 2000)
TV Guide released these four collectible covers in June 2000 for the Season 3 premiere of Sex and the City. Such a fun Y2K time capsule. Which cover do you like the most?

Patrick the alcoholic - so hard to watch
So I am here again, episode 16 ‘was it good for you?’ When Carrie tries to seduce poor Patrick 🫣
I just can’t believe after the Bon Jovi guy “breakthrough” about picking the wrong men, she latched on to Patrick in his 11th month in the program! ugh!! 😩
I think this episode did not age well at all. So sad…

i love how miranda is always offering her lawyer skills to the group
it’s a subtle thing but it always makes me happy to see her show up. like when she read over the prenup and when carrie got robbed and she introduced her as her lawyer.

She never deserved him
But also, this would be a hard no from me. He should have walked away from her crazy ass.

Aiden is so annoying
I heard about SATC on Reddit and TikTok before watching the series, and I just finished season 4. Let me tell you Aiden is SO annoying. I’m so baffled by all these posts worshipping him and calling him the dream man/husband material.
Here’s a summary of why I don’t like him:
- He never seemed to really like Carrie. Made fun for her obsession of fashion. Ie when he pulls out an outfit and is like “where do u where this”
- Flirting with that bartender to punish Carrie for cheating. If you’re so mad at her, why’d u get back together with her????
- Judging Miranda for her abortion. Implying men get the short end of the stick for NOT knowing about the pregnancy, when poor Miranda is faced with such a difficult decision
- Screwing her over with that apartment. Tbh it was kinda Carrie’s fault for letting him buy the apartment without considering how it’d impact her if they broke up.
He’s not a bad person. He reminds me of the typical American man but it’s annoying to see him worshipped so much.

And just like that... turn it tf off
Ok the woke stuff and bad jokes i could put up with but when carrie asked big to m**terbate for her, that was my personal breaking point and when i went to turn it off and just begin a rewatch of the og series.

Appreciation post for Charlotte. The emotion that takes over when she yells “No”. Gives me chills every single time.
r/sexandthecity • u/GossipBottom • 2d ago
What storyline hits different when you rewatch as you grow older?
I love rewatching shows at different stages in my life because I have totally different perspectives. Charlotte’s miscarriage being one of them.
Other one would be Samantha’s cancer.
And Carrie cheating for sure.

Bradshaw-Shaw
I couldn’t help but wonder… is the main reason Carrie didn’t want marry Aiden that her last name would sound as ridiculous as Bradshaw-Shaw? Did the writers have no other last names in mind?

WHY WOULD CARRIE DO THATTTT!!!!!💔 Spoiler
First time watcher here, just finished watching S3E9. I AM SOOOOOO MAD AT CARRIE OMG. Her and Aidan were supposed to be end game - he was literally perfect!! And she goes and ruins it by getting back in bed with Big, I’m so furious I can’t deal!!!😒😒😒 I’m willing to bet Big is gonna play her like a fiddle at least 48 more times in this show and she will not learn her lesson any one of those times😒😒 I feel so bad for Aidan cos he was the perfect combination of sexy, caring, funny, cute, ughhhh… literally the dreamiest man🥲😔💔

Charlotte could have ended up a cautionary tale
The realistic version of Charlotte’s story is that she would have ended up as more of a cautionary tale. I’m on Season 4 right now, and I actually like Charlotte, but here’s why I think that.
Charlotte basically built her whole life around finding a wealthy WASP husband and having kids. She also made a lot of comments that were pretty misogynistic. For example, she said she’d rather rent than own because that’s what men prefer, and she called the other women her “single, dysfunctional friends” even though she lived a pretty similar lifestyle herself.
What happened with Charlotte and Trey’s marriage is actually very realistic. Couples divorce all the time because they’re incompatible, want different things, or someone cheats. Where I think the show becomes unrealistic is in how the divorce plays out. The writers seem to really favor Charlotte because she’s the “traditional woman” of the group.
No sane man is giving his ex-wife a million-dollar Manhattan apartment after only a few years of marriage. The prenup wasn’t even that bad—it mostly just spread the money out over a long period of time. Realistically, she probably would’ve gotten a much smaller settlement, especially since she came into the marriage with her own trust fund and had a decent career running an art gallery.
I don’t remember exactly how long Charlotte and Trey were married, but it couldn’t have been that long. In a more realistic version of the story, she’d leave the marriage with a modest settlement, no apartment, and a career she’d have to rebuild after spending years focusing on being a wife.
I also think it would’ve been difficult for her to find another husband in the exact social circle she idealized. Not because she was divorced, but because she’d become pretty detached from the WASP world she spent years trying to break into.
I’m not saying any of this because I dislike Charlotte. I actually know a lot of women whose lives ended up looking similar to this. That’s why I think that if the show had gone for realism instead of wish fulfillment, Charlotte’s story would’ve turned out very differently.

The way Steve had no aspirations, lived in a crappy apartment just to move himself to Miranda’s and messed up her Ralph Lauren paint bc she did not went to see him play at the park like the man child he was…

Does somebody else appreciate how colorful the first movie is? 🤍
The lightning in the first movie is perfect! I know it’s a stupid detail but it really gives life to the movie. Even in the dark scenes you can appreciate every tone and it makes the cast look amazing especially Carrie with that hair color. Movies are so dark now I hate it smh

As much as I hate the second movie, True Colours is special.

2nd time on maternity leave, rewatching sex and the city.
Haven’t done a rewatch since the first time I watched this show back in 2024. I really adore the first season so much.
